The Casino Project

HTML Interactive

A large hypertext/interactive piece about a man getting lost - in many ways - in what was then the new Melbourne Casino.

This was my final piece for by Graduate Diploma in Writing at Swinburne in 1998. It won that years Postgraduate Coursework Prize - the first time a piece of writing had won it.

For this project I used a lot of frames (up to 14 for some pieces of it) and random page loading. I used DHTML animations, a few of which break on modern browsers, but the piece is still readable in its entirety. The style is deliberately lo-fi, a visceral reaction to the slick surfaces of the - then new and shiny - Mebourne Casino.
